Royal Kona - A Family-Friendly Resort on Hawaii's Big Island

Planning a family vacation to Hawaii can sound like a dream come true, but it can also be quite tough. There are many logistics that families with children need to hash out prior to booking flights and hotel rooms. A common question that parents may ask themselves prior to a vacation is "will the place where we are staying be kid friendly"? An important question to ask, parents may worry about how other guests may react, especially with young children, or they may wonder if children will enjoy their stay at a more adult-oriented resort. Parents looking for a Hawaii Big Island kid friendly resort should consider the Royal Kona Resort. A beautiful resort situated in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, we cater to every type of vacationer, including those in search of family fun.

We are an oceanfront resort right on Kailua Bay. For parents, this means that for enjoyment of the ocean and beach, there is no driving required. There is no reason to put the kids in their car seats, or pack up for a day's worth of fun, only to drive a long distance and be welcomed by massive parking fees. Simply walk from your room to the beach, and enjoy the day.

Guests should keep in mind, however, that this particular part of Hawaii's coastline is rocky and not meant for swimming or surfing. However, the Royal Kona has a private swimming lagoon on Kailua Bay so that guests can enjoy swimming in the water. We also have a gorgeous oceanfront swimming pool, if guests would like to spend the day poolside, soaking in the sun. As with the other areas of our resort, kids are welcomed and encouraged to use the pool.

For those with smaller children and babies, we know that packing something for them to sleep in can be a headache. We can offer all of our guests cribs to use in the room during your stay for your convenience. Don't worry about having to pack a travel playpen on the plane – we have you covered.

Activities around the Big Island can change on a weekly and even daily basis. During your stay, visit one of our activities desks within the Royal Kona Resort to find out what may be happening in the area during the time of your visit. Activities such as whale watching and charter boats are great fun for kids, and we can recommend the best of the best.

There are several dining options in-house at the Royal Kona. For Mom and Dad, we have Don's Mai Tai Bar, but for a great family meal, try Don The Beachcomber Restaurant here in Royal Kona. We also offer specials that change seasonally, such as Kids Eat Free deals, so check before booking if one of these specials applies to your stay. We also are a 100-percent non-smoking resort, so no worries that children will be exposed to toxic smoke.

To experience a Hawaii Big Island kid friendly resort firsthand, book your next family vacation at the Royal Kona to experience the magic of the Hawaiian Islands with the people who matter most.
